Homeschool field trip

Yesterday was our first homeschool field trip. Our group of 20 kids and 10 adults (including one 15 year old) went to a local firestation for a tour. We had a great time and it was a good learning experience. The firemen who did the tour had great personalities and were great with our kids. They taught them fire safety and not to play with lighters. They opened all of the doors on the large fire truck. This is the truck that has a 105 foot ladder and is the one that will respond to the hotel fires and some of the downtown fires in buildings with multiple floors.
One of the firemen demonstrated how he would get into his fire gear in seconds. It is amazing what all they have to put on to protect themselves. He breathed through his air mask and sounded like Darth Vader. The kids (and us big kids) liked that. It has been a long time since I have been on a tour of this nature.
This is also the only Haz-Mat team in the area. It would respond to any hazardous material scare in the whole stateline area. He showed the bright green radioactive "alien" suit that they would wear in the event of that happening.
After that we all went to a local burger king for refreshment for the adults and playtime for the kids.
Over all it was an informative , eventful, and fun day.
I will post a couple of pictures after I download them from my camera phone.

Sounds like fun! What group/kind of home school group are you involved with? I'm glad that you have that support!

Ijust realized that I won't be posting any pictures as my phone's battery was too low.
It is a Baptist group. We are looking for more members if you are interested.
